TIPS FOR ALL COMPUTERS

1. Boot Problems

Computer Shows No Sign of Power?

  • Check the power cable is snug in back of computer,
  • check to see or listen for fans running.

  • if nothing happens at all when power button is pressed,

  • the power supply needs to be tested for hardware failure

Computer Powers On... and Then Off

  • You'll probably hear the fans inside your computer turn on, see the lights on the front of your computer turn on or flash, and then it will all stop. You won't see anything on the monitor and you may or may not hear beeps coming from the computer before it shuts off by itself.

  • you may be facing anything from an electrical short to a serious hardware issue.

  • If you hear one Beep(tone for mac), hardware check is ok (motherboard, ram, cpu)

  • if you hear more then one something is wrong with one of the three
  • take all  devices off, leave only mouse keyboard

  • no boot still, might need to be cleaned out (dusted) for good solid connection and tested for

    hardware failure

Computer Powers On But Nothing Happens, no picture?

  • Test your monitor - first check power and connection cable in the back
  • Try another test with a differnt monitor if  possible
  • at that point you need to test your video card or video source output (means testing the motherboard)
